Steven Dennis
(Divine) Allen
Mar 11, 1962 — Jul 13, 2022
Steven O'Neil (Dennis) Allen was born March 11, 1962, in Brooklyn, New York. He was the son of the late Delores Lymon Allen and Tommie Agee.
Dennis was a loving father, uncle, cousin brother and faithful friend. He attended New York City Public Schools and Saint Benedict's Catholic School. He was affectionately known to close friends by several names such as Divine, Clyde, DV and Goodnight (to name a few). To his family he was nicknamed Dennis, after the 1950's television character, Dennis the Menace.
Dennis was someone you could always depend on when needed. He loved driving through Brooklyn, spending time with friends, reminiscing about his early days in Brooklyn, playing ballads from Peabo Bryson, Anita Baker, Keith Sweat and his favorite artist, Luther Vandross.
He will be remembered by his smooth dance moves, big dimples, infectious smile and heartfelt laugh. He was a self-made businessman, a natural mastermind that always knew of strategic ways to get money.
Dennis was married to Wanda Taveras and from this union they had Madison Delores.
Dennis is survived by four children, Kawan, Breanna, Jamie, and Madison; two brothers, Zachary Allen, Michael Allen (Nancy); sister, Debra Lymon-Burkes (Derrick) and a devoted girlfriend of 11 years, Maritsa. He leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and uncles in New York, Alabama, Detroit, Atlanta, and North Carolina.
Dennis was and will forever be remembered as a Flatbush legend!
