Obituary

Gregory Morrison was born sixty-six years ago in The Bronx to an adoring Mother, Mildred Alvarez, and Father, Clayton Morrison.  He was a little Fourth of July firecracker, and his dad nick-named him 'The Brown Bomber'.  As a baby he actually did look like Joe Louis and probably could have been a boxer given his adult physique.  But Greg grew to be a gentle giant and a very sweet man..

Tragedy struck early in his life, and at age two he lost both parents and was raised by an amazing grandmother, Iris Alvarez, who also went on to raise his older sister, Linda.
Her promise to her only daughter Mildred was that she would do her best to keep the two together and raise them well.  And with very limited resources she did just that; and she did it very well and with lots of love,

When Grandmother, Nana, joined the ancestors, Linda continued the legacy of caring for Greg and keeping them safe and together.
Although Gregory lived with challenges most people would consider daunting, his charming personality and up-beat attitude blurred the reality of those challenges.
His sweet dimpled smile, inherited from his Mom, could light up a room.  His 6' 2" frame housed a big heart and a gentle spirit. And although his life required a bit of management, he could step up and care for his big sister too.  Like the time when NYC experienced a blackout, big/little brother Greg walked through the dark and met up with his sister making sure she got home safe.

When Gregory finished high school he worked for a short while as a maintenance person.  Much later on he did volunteer work helping to manage a book store in Harlem.  He loved people, and people loved him.  He enjoyed watching sports and movies. He moved with quiet dignity through the world.  He was also a very dapper man, admired by all who knew him.   He leaves behind his loving and loyal sister Linda and a niece Ari.  He will be missed very much.  He was Loved.  Rest in Peace and Power sweet Gregory.
